What is Sakura Matsuri…in Japanese it means Cherry Blossom Festival!

The ‘Sakura (cherry blossom) Picnic Day’ is a community event which has been hosted by the Australia Japanese Society and the Japanese Society of Melbourne since 2015, in order to celebrate spring and promote the multi-cultural face of Melbourne.

This community event will showcase Japanese cultural performances, traditional tea ceremony, martial arts demonstration and activities for children amongst a mature cherry tree grove donated to Victoria by the Government of Japan.

Let’s ride our bikes there…LOCKS A MUST.

BYO picnic or sample Japanese cuisine from onsite vendors.

Japanese tea, sweets and crafts also available for purchase.
