This leisurely ride incorporates a visit to the amazing grey-headed flying fox colony at Yarra Bend Park in Kew. The colony is home to thousands of flying foxes and with a wing span of over a metre, these are one of the largest bats in Australia. If we are lucky, we might find a Parks Victoria ranger to show us around on a 45 minute guided walk.
Meeting at Hawthorn velodrome for a 10am sharp roll out, we’ll travel primarily on quiet roads and shared paths. There will be several hills to ride and you may wish to bring comfy walking shoes to visit the bats. We’ll stop for coffee and a light snack at Studley Boathouse before returning to Hawthorn.
