This is a two part activity. You can do just the bike ride, just the hike or both. Please indicate your choice when you RSVP.

Bike Ride
We’ll meet at Upper Ferntree Gully Station carpark and start with a short ride following the bike path along the railway line to Bayswater for a quick cuppa (30 min stop) before heading back. Once back at the station, we’ll put our bikes in the car, put on our walking shoes, make a quick stop at the toilets and start our hike.

Distance: 16km
Start: Upper Ferntree Gully Station carpark (enter first left after the traffic lights and mini market)
Bring: bike lock, lights, spare tube, MYKI card, full water bottle and money for coffee.
We estimate the ride will finish at 11am.

Hike start at 11:15am
We’ll start our walk to 1000 steps from the Upper Ferntree Gully Station carpark. From the station we’ll walk to the top of the 1000 steps. This takes approx. 1 hour. We will then take the more picturesque way down where there are fewer people and more chance of seeing wildlife (lyrebirds, kookaburras, deer, wallabies).
At the start of the 1000 steps and at the top, there are water fountains for top ups.

Fitness Level: This is not an easy walk…approx. 2.5kms of UP but very rewarding and a nice relaxing walk down, via the quieter scenic route.

Bring: pocket snack, water bottle, good walking shoes, pocket snacks

Post Hike:
As we would have worked up an appetite from cycling and hiking, for those who can, we will go to Brew’d café for a bite to eat.. This is across the road from where our cars are parked.
There is also a mini market next to our cars that you may want to meander thru.
