RAPHA WOMENS100
Every year we look forward to taking part in an international ride that shows the strength of women’s cycling. But we do it a little differently at Wheel Women…accessible and supported for those who may never have achieved 100km before.
We want you to give it your best shot, try your hardest, give it everything…but we also want you to have fun. We;ve chosen a route close to the city so we can have as much support as we need with drop off points, transport, coffee and food.
More details will come closer to the day but here’s the plan so far. We start at Cyclic Bicycles in Flemington at 8am. Depending on the wind we’ll ride to just past Brighton before turning back to the city and heading to Altona…all on the road! There may be a few short path sections, but we want the ride to keep moving – it will be cold, so we need to keep everyone going.
We will stop to have lunch at either Docklands or Williamstown, depending on time.
Riders will need to be able to keep to a cruising speed on the flat of 25kmphr, across the full distance…that’s a big ask. You may need to train! This year we won’t be running training rides, it’s up to you to be in peak shape. We will accept flat bar road bikes and drop bars, NO mountain bikes or hybrids.
In the interests of safety, we will ask riders to keep to the speed – this is for their safety and our ride leaders.
If you want the challenge, then sign up!!
Stay tuned for more details.
